Sensor-based sorting enables the separation of individual particles from a material stream. In this work, a novel sorting system using an area-scan camera is investigated. The use of high-speed cameras raises exciting research questions from a computer science perspective regarding the extraction and use of more advanced features, especially motion information about the materials to be sorted.

The Proceedings describe the current state of research dealing with biological shape analysis. The quantitative analysis of the shape of biological organisms represents a challenge that has now seen breakthroughs with new methodologies such as elliptical Fourier analysis, quantitative trait loci analysis (QTLs), chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs), thin plate splines, etc. The Proceedings also illustrate the diversity of disciplines that are actively involved in the characterization and analysis of biological shape. Moreover, many of the papers focus on the relationship of the shape to the processes that determine the biological form, an issue of major continuing concern in biology.

This book covers all of the major library classification schemes in use in Europe, UK and US; it includes practical exercises to demonstrate their application. Importantly, classifying electronic resources is also discussed. The aim of the book is to demystify a very complex subject, and to provide a sound theoretical underpinning, together with practical advice and development of practical skills. The book fills the gap between more complex theoretical texts and those books with a purely practical approach. Chapters concentrate purely on classification rather than cataloguing and indexing, en

In the stem-derivational perfective-imperfective opposition of Slavic the role of prefixes and suffixes has to be assessed jointly. The article evaluates the diachronic backdrop and parameters appropriate for classificatory categories. Special attention is paid to the criteria applied by aspectologists to determine aspect pairs and to aspect triplets. The assessment ends up with a paradox resulting from Maslov's criteria of 'trivial pairednessʼ, which require not only identical lexical meaning, but an ontology for which telic events are the sole basis in the derivation of aspect pairs.
